With great sadness, we announce the passing of Superintendent/CEO Mr. Lawrence Hamm after a long battle with cancer. He passed away surrounded by his family on March 9, 2025.
Mr. Lawrence Hamm served as Superintendent/CEO of WMS from 2007 until he took medical leave in 2021. While on leave, he continued to support the school by working closely with the administrative team and serving as the Foundations for a Lifetime Capital Campaign Honourary Co-Chair.
Under his leadership, the WMS Bedson Campus was officially purchased and a daycare was added. The WMS Katherine Friesen Campus saw multiple expansions and renovations, including the large addition in 2019 that facilitated the addition of grades 7 and 8. In 2024, Mr. Hamm was awarded the first WMS Builder Award for his outstanding and significant contributions to the organization.
Mr. Hamm's family asks that, in place of flowers, donations be made in memoriam to the WMS Bursary Fund.
We pray that the peace of Christ comforts and cares for Mr. Hamm's family and those who grieve with them. He will be deeply missed by students, colleagues, and staff alike.
