BURSARY FUND
We believe that all children who wish to attend our school should be able to.
WMS offers bursaries up to 50% of annual tuition to families who otherwise could not attend.
Each year, families, community members, businesses, alumni, and our parent associations donate to our Bursary Fund to ensure that all who apply are able to attend. These combined groups contributed approximately $35,000 annually to support children and families.
SCHOLARSHIPS
WMMS ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP
CORAL AND ZACHARY JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving student.
Our Alumni Scholarship was created to recognize former students and the great things they are capable of.
The Coral and Zachary Johnson family scholarship was established in 2018 to give back. Coral and Zack Johnson attended and benefitted from their time in WMS and, along with their parents, wished to give back. This scholarship is awarded to a deserving student who demonstrates the characteristics of hard work, enthusiasm, good citizenship, a clear love for learning and giving back to others. The award covers tuition, busing, and hot lunches for one school year for one student.
The purpose of this scholarship is to annually provide a $1000 financial award to a WMS graduate who is entering their first year of post-secondary. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, show a commitment to community involvement, and exhibit leadership qualities.
FAMILY DISCOUNTS
Families who have more than one student attending WMS may apply for the following tuition discounts:

Second student - $500

Maximum tuition fee for;

families with children in K-4 - $11,670

families with at least one child in 5-8 - $12,650

FINANCIAL DETAILS
WMS ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP
Guidelines:

Must have graduated grade 8 at WMS and have attended for a minimum of three years

Must be entering their first year of post-secondary education
Selection process:
-
Applications are subject to a blind review by a panel of staff

Shortlisted applications will be provided to a third-party, non-biased community member, who is not affiliated with WMS staff or graduates
Application:

A brief cover letter explaining career aspirations and why you are deserving of the scholarship

A current resume
-
A 500-600 word essay or a three-minute video on how your time at WMS prepared you for challenges you have faced in school or life so far, and how you are preparing to meet challenges in the future

A current photo of yourself

Funds will be awarded to the successful applicant upon confirmation of their registration in post-secondary. Students who elect to defer the start of their post-secondary studies are still eligible to apply

WMS reserves the right to adjust the criteria of the scholarship, decline to award a scholarship if there is no suitable applicant, and/or award more than one scholarship if deemed appropriate

Staff or family members of staff are not eligible for the scholarship
CORAL AND ZACHARY JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP
Guidelines:

Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

Award will be applied to tuition and fees for one child

Applicant must demonstrate financial need

Nominee is enrolled and accepted for subsequent school year and all fees are paid up to date

Applicant will be responsible for Registration, Society, and Capital Replenishment Fees

If successful applicant is in Grade 7 or 8, award will also cover the cost of the major school trip, net of fundraising
Selection Process:

Administration will consider applications received through the WMS Bursary application process. Other applicants who have not applied may be considered if administration is aware of financial need

Administration will identify 1-3 applicants for short list, final selection done by admin in consultation with representation from the Johnson family
